Why Solyndra's failure is actually a good thing for the rest of the solar industry
Ever since the solar manufacturer Solyndra failed (and made national news for those few weeks), we've been getting questions about them...and the solar industry, in general. In fact, we are still fielding the occasional question - even now. So, we decided to share an article written on the Scientific American website back in October that explains the type of module Solyndra made [hint - they were never the standard module made by the majority of PV manufacturers], and why that company's failure is good news for the rest of the industry.

CNN Article RE: Record Carbon Emissions from Energy Use
Yesterday, CNN posted the following article.
(CNN) -- Carbon emissions from energy use reached a record level last year, up 5% from the previous record in 2008, the International Energy Agency said.
The Paris-based agency called the findings a "serious setback" to limit global temperature increase to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 F), which was set at the U.N. climate change talks in Cancun, Mexico, last year.
"Our latest estimates are another wake-up call," said Fatih Birol, chief economist at the IEA. "The world has edged incredibly close to the level of emissions that should not be reached until 2020 ... it will be extremely challenging to succeed in achieving this global goal agreed in Cancun.
